Or "mods".. if you will.
The Lightning section spured me on this.
re-saying:
I've very recently installed Denali headlights in my '00 GMC. Now that I have them in, I want the rest of the front. Soooo.... This winter's upgrades consist of Denali turn signals/running lamps, and the grille that goes with 'em.
Later down the road, I think I'd like to do the front bumper too (body color w/round fogs).
Cobra? Not sure.
Cavalier? It just went thru an entire brakejob... so it's good!

Seems like a good place to ask this question, I have a '95 F-150 with 75,000 miles on it. I don't think the 4x4 is engaging, its the push button type on the dash. I can hear it as if it were engaging and the light comes on, but I'm pretty sure its not engaged. Any ideas so I don't get taken for a ride when I take it in?
Thanks,
Pam

put your back tires on a bunch of loose dirt and the fronts on dry pavement and then hit the gas. If it is engaged you should be able to take off right away and not fishtail or really spin. Another thing is try stomping the gas on a wet road while supposedly in 4x4 and if you do not spin the back tires and you get great acceleration you are in 4x4.

Pam ~
Well, I would think you'd know for sure if it's engaging or not. I mean, it's a night-an-day deal when mine is engaged, especially in tight turns you can feel the added friction from the front diff working instead of it free-wheeling.
I'm unfamiliar with the exact mechanics of the push button systems, the GMC being my 1st 4x4 (replaced my ol' '93 Lightning = 2wd)... do you atleast have a Chilton's manual or something to get you in the ballpark?
Maybe the people who hang out online all day can get ya' some more info today ;)

Possibly a vacuum problem, I think the pushbutton 4x4's had issues with the vacuum solonoid??

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I know the pushbuttons had some trouble so thats a good start. I'm pretty sure its not engaged because even on a small incline my back wheels spun in the tiny bit of snow we had! Not at all the feel of when the 4x4 is engaged, I know what you mean, Tim. Of course the dumb tires I have don't help, the Goodyear sponges. When these are worn I'm getting the Firestone Wilderness A/T again, I loved those tires. Time to get it in.
Thanks,
Pam

You don't like the BFG All-Terrain T/As at all?

I had the Wilderness A/T's and I liked those but had them replaced at 50K miles when Ford had that issue with Firestone. They put Goodyear on and they feel like sponges.
The news on the 4x4 is the auto hubs were all broken internally. I'm having them turned into manual hubs., plus a lot of other stuff that a 10 year old truck (in excellent shape, I might add) needs.
BTW, my truck is at Lakeville Ford for work, they are doing a great job for me! Put me in a new Taurus to drive while its in the shop and giving me a discount on the work. Can't beat that with a stick. I want to support our dealer sponsor!

I know the Wilderness A/T's are a nice riding tire... and inflated to proper pressures, they can get alot of mileage out of 'em. They just don't do much for me in the looks dept. though.
The BFG All Terrain T/As are one of the best lookin' truck tires IMO... and I like the ride just fine. They're not a loud tire by any means, like alot of people think... and traction for winter has been just fine for me. When the snow hits, I go out and look for drifts to tackle!
