2001 LS V8
I have been getting a check eng but i guess it called emission light. the lite goes on and stays on for a few days to a week and then goes off. the car does seem to idle a litte odd sometimes. I took my predator tuner from my lightning and looked at the codes. there were two:
P0153
02 Circuit slow response (Bank 2, Sensor 1)
P0171
System to lean (Bank 1)
Is this a bad O2 sensor and if so how many do these cars have and which one is bank 2 sensor 1?
I would think the second code is due to the first code. any help would be great. thanks...Mac

Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1.
What I would do is reset the codes and also write them down so you know what side got what. They should not be related as they are from two different sides of the car.
The lean condition one, this can happen for many different reasons, bad tank of gas, it got wet, loose connection, etc... I had that code in the cobra and Casey reset it and the code has never come back.
As for the other code, maybe that could be caused by a bad tank of gas also, but not sure.

I did reset the codes but i am sure they will come back. i know its not gas because i have been filling up at diff gas stations thinking that it may have been that also. i think that it will get all new O2 sensors todoy. another common problem is that there is a plastic tube that feeds air into the intake after the maf that thens to crack and leak. search said that this is many times is the problem.
Lean code could be any number of things from a bad MAF sensor to a vacuum leak. Or a FPR. As far as the o2 sensor code its most likely a bad o2 sensor but check the conections and wiring before replacing.

just replaced the two front O2 they were only $45 each. I also found the cracked line that was after the maf fixed that and cleared all the codes, changed oil and cleaned the maf. took it on a 100 mile cruse no codes no problems she runs nice and smooth again. thanks for the help guys

Mac, One thing that Casey told me is it could take up to 10 to 15 key starts on the vehicle before a code will be thrown again. Just wanted to let you know that so you can take it into consideration. Hopefully with what you have done that will have solved the issue completely though.

lets hope it fixed it. thanks for it info
If my head serves me right, with OBDII its two driving cycles before the light will come back on. So take it out from cold to warm again and after that trip it will trip if its right. Not trying to dispute anything just trying to help.
