I need to get a valve body for my L. I am curious if any of you guys have installed one, and which brand? I find there are 3 available, but am wondering if there is a difference. The truck will still get mostly street use in summer, but will see some track time. As long as I'm asking, how about oil seperators? It looks like I'll need one, and am wondering the same. But also would like to know if the pcv style breather works. Sorry so long. Thanks, Howie

I have a level 10 kit but if I did it over id get the Factory tech . They are pretty easy to install .While your in there you should put on a 4x4 pan and filter so its easier to change the fluid next time . You will need an Inch pound torque wrench . If you dont have on I have one i can borrow you .

Why would you do the FT? Do you have issues with the Level 10? I am planning on a new pan also, but probably a B&M or Ford extra volume type. Why do you use the 4x4 pan? Is it because it's cheaper? I like the style of the regular replacement, and they have drain plugs. Thank you for the torque wrench offer, I already have one. I would be curious to know what your experiences have been with parts installs.
Once again, thank you for the kind offer. I would be more inclined to 'pick your brain' on a few concerns, if it's possible.
Howie

Oops! I responded too quickly. I actually do not have in/lb. Mine is ft/lb. I may take you up on that when I get the parts. I am in Mendota Hgts. Near 13 & 35E. :o:

Greg Evans who builds the FT really know his **** .I have heard very few compliants about his product and none about his service. The level 10 kit is fine but it requires you to take apart your stock valve body .The FT comes all together and would be much easier to do .
If the factory pan had a drain I would have kept that . I went with the 4x4 for the price .It is like 2 qts bigger than the stock one.
Ive done all of my mods in my garage by myself or with help from freinds.None of it is very hard. I think the fricken spark plugs are the worst thing to mess with !
If you need to use my torque wrench PM me and ill give you my # .

Got it. I also do my own work in my own garage. Had a hell of a time removing leaf hangers this weekend. Had to torch heat the frame to get factory rivets out, then ran out of oxygen Sat night. Took so long I couldn't do the front yet, so my truck looks like I'm carrying 500 lbs in the bed. I have the front 2" eibach springs to put in, but haven't had to do anything else up ther yet, so I haven't looked at it to figure out the alignment kit. BTW, made final payment on truck this past week, so it's time to modify. Howie
I'll let you know when I get a vb, probably hit you up for wrench if ok.

Hey Howie - welcome aboard!

I have the Gregg Evans FTVB in my Lightning and absolutely love it. It was very easy to install. I bought the FTVB and the Ford 4x4 pan as a package deal from Chickenears (one of the supporting vendors on NLOC - Chickenears Website (http://www.chikenearsengineering.com//) )

Thank you. I appreciate your info and would like to know more about your truck. I am curious if you have had the oil in the intake problem also. Howie

They make an oil seperator that supposedly helps with the oil in the intake and Throttle Body. I'm sure the L guys would be more helpful with a link or a picture but I have heard of such thing...

Yeah I have the oil in the intake problem as well. I installed an Oil Separator from REM (Razors Edge Motorsport) on my truck last year when it had about 2500 miles on it. I had noticed oil running out of the throttle body when I took the black rubber intake tube off. Luckily I put the separator on before my intercooler got too caked with oil. I have not had even a trace of oil in the upper intake since i installed the separator. I had my supercharger off at around 9000 miles and intercooler looked exactly the same - no addtional oil buildup.

I end up having to empty the the separator every 300 miles or so. I think i paid about $40 for it, but i have been told that you can make your own for about $20 from some air compressor parts.

Thank you for that info. I need to get one soon, but would like to see the installation. If things go as planned, I will be at the Oct. meeting so I can join officially. Howie
