Rock Falls Report for 4/14.
The 89 Mustang was everything advertised. After a scare during the second run when it sounded like a rod went or a valve dropped, I was able to find the problem with a loose rocker on the #3 cylinder exhaust. Tightened it down, and all was well.

My final run of the day
R/T .263
60' 1.618
1/8 7.218 @ 96.09
1/4 11.295 @ 120.30

I beat my opponent (name withheld) by .0273.
If you were there, you know.

Not bad for a normally aspirated Fox body.

I think I remember you posting up on the forum that it was for sale. Thanks for the tip and thanks to FAST351 for a great car!

That was me. I ran an 11.67@120.35. But because I cut a .352 better light(cheated slightly), I was able to have a door to door race with a very fast race car. I only lost by about 2 feet. It was fun.

Would you believe I tied Grenade?
OK, only in the number of runs for the day, but that's got to be worth something, right?

Hmmm, I just skimmed through my slips. Sixteen runs, and the difference between the fastest and the slowest was 0.289. Seems pretty consistant considering it was my first time racing. Must mean I just didn't experiment enough.

I was hoping to, at least for a week, have the fastest timeslip in the club. I know I don't have the quickest car, but it would have been fun. Needless to say, I didn't quite get to Kaf's time(11.49), but the bar was raised to an 11.29 now. Out of my range right now. I'd have to cut some more weight, and add skinnys to have a shot. Anyway I still broke some old records. Top ten times and mph.

1. 11.658.....121.29
2. 11.676.....120.95
3. 11.738.....120.69
4. 11.770.....120.36
5. 11.790.....120.35
6. 11.823.....120.25
7. 11.853.....120.11
8. 11.856.....120.06
9. 11.865.....120.01
10. 11.869.....119.64

Mike V built an awesome car. I was wondering who bought it.

Congrats !

Your car and setup is nothing to be ashamed of. Hey, you built yours up and put the money in it - take some pride in it. I just wrote a check and got mine pretty much race ready. It's not fast 'cause I'm good, it's just fast. Besides, I'm at least .3 seconds off of what it is capable of doing.

Plus, you beat me the first time we raced today (minus the red light). I had to shut down. That was probably more reflective of my mechanical abilities :).

My Congrats to Mark for the fastest of the day. It was fun watching. Manny, Rick, Shawn, we need to beat that time. Tee Hee!

Fast car Mark!!! glad you got it fixed. Had a great time. I had hoped to get better times with my GT. But a 13.4 wasn't to bad the first time out with it. This year with the new mods. To much wheel hop and spining in 1st gear with the 4.10's. But i did beat some old fart sleeping at the wheel:sleep: in a yellow and black striped 05GT:rolleyes:

I figure you guys would have been pretty even, but "no" you had to go and put bigger gears in for the raw driving edge. Tee Hee.

Will there be a rematch?? We will have to work on the Yellow Fellow to see how we can get an edge up on the "Gray Stray"

:slap: It was a good race. I finally got to see the video. Shawn said it was "Tuck and Nip" all the way and Mark edged him out at the end.

Dunno if you know this Mark, but there is an entire site for your yellow car.

http://www.fast351.com/cartech/

Enjoy if you haven't been there, and you can see everything that car went through.

Which reminds me, that car should have a roll cage mounted video camera mount of some sort.

I archived the site, but Mike also provided me the enire site on CD. Can't ask for a better documented vehicle.

And yes, the camera mount is there. I hit the wrong button to turn on my camera when harnessed in at the starting line. I'll have to start it earlier or bring my remote.

As if there isn't enough to think about when at the line.
