Took an early eve. nap, and got up about 10:30 pm, and decided to work on the Cobra, so I put in the AEM A/f gauge. As with everything I do on cars, it went slow. But I got all the wiring in nice, and nothing got broken on the interior. I even fixed a squeak in the vent bezel. A/f jumps around a bit, and the gauge is distracting a bit, but under full throttle, the A/f was 11.7-12.0, so I'm happy. Time for bed.

Where did you put the sensor?

Where did you put the sensor?
In the unused rear ox sensor bung.

your readings are going to be off being that far back. The ideal spot is up by the front O2 on the driver side.

RWTD said it really doesn't make that much of a difference. Also if your car is being tuned on a dyno, what do they use? A tailpipe sniffer or the rear o2 bung if they even have one.

You can have the shop put their O2 sensor in the A/F gauge bung that you put in if you want them to so you can keep it the same. There have been people that have done testing and just by going front by the front O2 to the rear O2 it can be .2 to .3 leaner in the rear and then front O2 to tail pipe sniffer you can be .6 to 1.0 leaner.

Don't trust James? LOL I can't imagine that having it back 12 inches further is going to make that big of a change. There are no obstructions in the way, so the only reason would be because it wouldn't get hot enough.
I had planned on moving mine forward just for the heat issue (it will give it a longer life) and now that I have D9's welder, I'll do it.

When I move it I'll do a before and after.

I'm not trying to fight, I'm just posting stuff that I have seen of people doing comparisons. The differenece with going with the rear O2 is that it is after the mix of the 2 sides of exhaust like after the H or X or Chamber. That is why having it farther forward is better. Honestly the best setup would be to have one on each side right below the front O2 cause then you can see wach bank and know what each side is doing like if an injector goes bad or anything like that.

My readings are almost exactly what Dp performance had at the rear tailpipe. In the instructions is said that a boosted car can have it a little farther downstream. N/A should be a closer to the manifold. It's just a guide anyway. It's only taking the avg of 4 cyls. Kaf can datalog the difference, if he changes the position of the sensor. Then we will have hard data to compare.

I run the aem wideband. I have it welded in right after the collector on the drivers side. Hi-tech put the tailpipe sniffer in and we compared them. It was only .2 difference at it's furthest point. That's six plus feet away. I was impressed. Like Grenade said. It's not exact anyway. It just gives you a good idea of where everything is.
