As most of you know, I"m working on planning a wedding. We don't know when yet, but there are thousands of choices out there for having the ceremony & reception. I"m trying to narrow it down.
I'm sure many of you have been to weddings/receptions in the Twin Cities area. I'd like to know places that you've been that you liked, and places to stay away from.
Also, please explain why you liked or disliked the place. And, were you there for a ceremony or a reception, or both?

Let me pull out some of my old files from my days of planning meetings/banquets when I worked with Valvoline. Most of the places I've gone to and worked with are on the West and Northwest side of town but I'll see what I can come up with.

That would be great. We live in Blaine, so Northwest side is perfect. But, any suggestions in the metro are welcome.

Sundance Golf and Bowl... has a huge banquet room upstairs... Dance floor... Bar...
Kitchen...
All the specs:

We hold our bowling banquets there.
Great food, nice atmosphere.
Can't hurt to check them out.
They are on Hiway 121 in Dayton (off Hiway 81 head north on Fernbrooklane / 121).
That area is heavily under construction until late fall, but will be a breeze after that.
Enjoy

I always liked the Depot in Minneapolis. Click (http://www.thedepotminneapolis.com/home.htm)
Both Cobraboy and I have set up for several events here and i was always very impressed with the area. I don't have any idea what prices are though, i'd imagine they are not cheap
Hope this helps!

If you go small 10,000$ well do. Wedding an honeymoon that is. good luck. :)
A woman that I worked with is reallllly picky and she found a place that she loved. I can't recall the name but I'll ask her when I get a chance.

como zoo's pavillion on the lake-beautiful (ceremony), or the botanical garden-absoutely stunning(ceremony), the northland inn is nice(reception), but of course once you establish a budget it will make your decision easier.

All weddings are expencive. As Brrnout said I have done TONS of weddings in the area. For your wedding I would say the coolest place for a reception would be the wabasha street caves. but like Brrn said I think the depot is also a really great place. If you need some help finding more places I know a few people in the biz. (my sister is a professional wedding planner)

The first question that needs to be answered is how many people are you planning on having. Until you know how many then there is no need to worry about the ceremony or the reception. Another thing that needs to be decided first also is the time of year that the wedding will happen. It can drastically change where you could have both the crermony and the reception. I have DJ'd probably 75 - 100 weddings in my day so I have been to a few places around the cities.

We haven't decided on a number of people yet. Thats partially why I wanted any and all suggestions, good or bad.
Also suggestions for outdoor ceremonies would be good.

Finally getting back to places I worked with while at Valvoline. Granted most of these are Indoor but great service none the less.

We did a lot of resort getaways for big meetings and such, not a lot in the way of outdoor stuff.
