Where can I get a battery disconnect switch so I can run at the track with my battery located in the trunk? I'll probably end up putting it behind the plate in the rear bumper and just install it when I want to run at the track and pull it out when I want to go home.

There were a few on summit racing but I'm not sure which ones will work and I need it before next weekend. There are cheap plastic ones for $10 but I don't think they are NHRA approved.

Thats the best kind, no drilling thru bodypanels or taillights. If Dirtybirds doesnt work, then summit or jegs sells them.

You mount it under the trunk floor pan, then a long rod sticks out the back of car and you push the rod to kill power. I dont remember the Cougar besides the nice rims but if you have rear ground effects, you will have to drill a 3/8" hole.

No ground effects so I should be able to do that then. How much are we talking for this rod disconnect then dirtybirdy? I'm looking to go cheap since I'm not going to use it much. I'll just put it on for the track.

I'm not sure if the current rating is high enough.

Is that morosso one suppose to be used on a car that has an alternator? Can you give me a part number so I can look it up.

Thanks,
Chris

They all must be wired into the alternator that way the car shuts off, if you dont wire it that way you wont pass tech.

So I have to run two more wires back from the alternator to cut it out when the switch is flipped? This is going to be a pain I'll have to strip the interior down again then. I figured it had to be done that way but I thought I might get away if it was just inline with the battery.

Yes you have to have the power switch connected to both the battery and the alt, if you dont you wont pass tech.

Chris, Cedar falls is pretty lax on tech and I doubt they will even notice the battery in the trunk. I was really shocked to see how strict tech was at MAM in May, that might have been just a fluke.
