Well, I am sad to say the engine died again yesterday when I was driving. (outside temp was around 70). Thought we had her fixed with the new IAC. It seemed to be idling steady for a while after we put it in.

D9 noticed the supercharger remained hot for a long time after the car had been sitting for a while. It also has a hot start issue, I have to hold the gas pedal to keep it running when I start it up again after being parked for a short time.

Some suggestions have been that the fuel is getting to hot and that is why it dies. Any thoughts on that idea? Would an inner cooler (SP??) make a difference?

We hooked up a scan tool to see if we could find any codes - a few came up - we are looking into what they mean.

Anyone have any ideas why when the outside air temp gets above 70 it keeps dying when I drive? She runs fine when it is cool out. Any thoughts would be appreciated - thanks!

Where should I look to get some answers?

An Intercooler would always help to keep the intake air charge to be colder which in turn helps the S/C. It would be interesting to see what your Fuel Pressure is when it dies.

the P0605 sounds like it could be a big issue.

OK, so what are my next steps then? What does this mean?

Not something I'd tackle.. :(

See if John Z would give you a hand?

The last code looks like you can ignore it, sounds like you checked the codes before it warmed up.

Im not certain but if the 96 4V's are anything like the new ones they use a oil pressure driven chain tensioner. Perhaps one of the chain tensioners went, or its seal, so its not properly tensioning chain and you did jump a tooth?

I'll start by saying I'm no expert (far from it), but maybe this will trigger a thought in someone that is...
I agree with VM - the P0605 sounds like it needs some investigation. If it's implying an issue with the ECU and/or ROM that it's reading its program from, that has the potential to manifest itself in many different ways, and I would think it could even result in throwing errant codes that don't really have anything to do with the real problem.
That said, it might not be that the PCM or ROM itself are faulty. Something like a undervoltage situation can cause problems (I think ROMs can be especially sensitive to this, though I think it's more so during a write than a read). Battery, charging system, or power delivery to the PCM could be in the fault path.
Anyway, I hope you solve your problem, soon.

Thanks for asking! No, nothing yet. It's been to cool out to try and get a new code out of it. In otherwords, I've driven it, but it hasn't acted up. I also don't have alot of time right now with school/homework...

Hopefully when the weather gets warmer we can look into it further then. Most likely will end up takin' her in to JZ at AVF. There are just so many things it could be. Since I didn't have anything to do with the install of the mods, I'm really not sure what's under the hood... I'd like to do some "house cleaning" and just get everything the way I want it.

On a positive note, we put the new tires/rims on last night - Looks SWEET! :shiftin: Although, Jamin was right, should have went with 10's in the back. Live and learn! :)

Are you running a chip?

I had some thermal shut down issues with the first SCT chip I had in my Vortech charged 96 cobra. We swapped out the chip, and everything returned to normal.

I had hot-running (not overheating though) issues with my snake from the minute it was super-charged to the day I sold it. Always running way up towards the end of the temp scale.

Through all the research I did on it, the solution seemed to be a KIT from Ford that was part of a TSB with regards to overheating in the southern states. Everyone who
had it done saw their temps drop way down. I never got it done because Ford didn't
deem Minnesota to be a HOT state, and as such would not do anything about it until
the car actually overheated.

Oh well... maybe that'll help.

Did you put some springs in it yet?
