Oh and besides what you guys mentioned another thing wrong with the car is the price. Who in their right mind would pay 16,990 for a convertable 96 cobra with 63k miles, I'd say that should be more in the 10-12ish range tops. In my opinion the price is what is wrong with that cobra, for almost 17 you should be getting a 99 or 01 cobra with under 50, granted not all will be for sale in that price range but its where they should be. Hell I got my 98 for 7200, I mean it was a really good deal and its got kinda high miles (90k) but still most are highway and the car is awesome so who cares but 17 for a 96 is just crazy unless it is way way above average. maybe take a 0 off the mileage or something but eww, way too much

yah... I can see that I guess. Alot of people think that's high... and going by the current market, I guess it is.
What's funny is... I paid 18k for mine in '98 w/12,300 miles on it...
It's 2004 and it's got just shy of 30k on it (she'll hit the big 3-0 by fall easily), and if I had to sell it, I'd have a tough time letting it go for less than 15,500, just because that's what I feel the car is worth... but it's probably only worth that to me, which is fine. For that price, you could get alot newer. But I guess it depends on what you want... the 5.0 or the 4.6, and if you want above-average care or not.
Over a year ago, I had a buddy hit me up to help him find a good Cobra.
We looked at a few or so, and half of 'em were pretty beat. We ran across one just like mine, that wasn't in too bad of condition for the year, '94, and outside of the motor not as clean as I'm used to (it was workable), was worth buying. I can't remember what the guy was asking for it (lil high, but still worth it to the owner atleast), but he wouldn't go down at all... not even $500. So I told my buddy to pass on it. We amazingly, found another one just about as clean as mine, more miles (but still low for a '94) with extras and all stock parts to boot, for less than the other one
I couldn't of sold mine for as cheap as he got that one, but that guy could, and did, and it worked out great for my buddy.
Moral:
Some people feel their Cobras are worth "book" or less... (and some are), and some feel it's above average for whatever reason, and outside of normal book values (me and mine).

I can totally agree with you on that, I think I was one of the lucky few that got mine for way less than I should have, but as far as this specific car my arguement is just that I see nothing significant about it, it is still sorta low miles but not really, nothing amazingly low, also its at a dealer of some sort, maybe they didn't wanna deal with the hassle of selling but still if it was traded in it must not have been like yours, one of exceptional quality that deserves more than the average beat cobra let alone trade in value. Thats my only reason for being blown away at the price not that it could not ever be worth that. I respect the whole condition and car love value thing, and thats why you will find people that would buy a car like yours or at close to that price, I just couldn't afford it in a time like this, I'm only 19 and work at a sams club so I'm lucky to have a cobra in the first place, if I could do it again and afford it would I take a low mileage one of course but I couldn't so I didn't. meh, I dunno hope that makes sense and doesn't sound like me rambling on and on

Yup, it does make sense.
I'm curious... do they let you employees get any sort of discount on anything?

nope sams is gay, all they give you is free membership. We can get tires for a real good deal though, or at least usually they are at least as good or better than most places, we don't stock anything that would go on most of the cars us members of this site drive but we can order almost anything made by goodyear, dunlop michelin and bf goodrich, If you couldn't already tell I work in the tire department, I like it, I enjoy working on cars most of the time, if you or anybody here for that matter needs something done, at least basics with tires, balance / mounting kinda stuff lemme know, I like to help as well as meet new people, especially ones that share an interest in cars

Actually... now that you mentioned it (and this was not my intention when asking you)... I do, yes. Nothing exciting, just need my Cavy wheels rotated and re-balanced.
They are aftermarket wheels that require stick-on weights, and some have come off I see.

well you'll have to find a time that is good for both of us I guess but i work today, since its friday now, saturday sunday and monday, if you can think of a time that would work before the end of the weekend, my boss won't be in so anytime that I am at work is good otherwise any time after he has left, if he don't know about me doing stuff he don't care, thats his policy, I don't mind followin that, I don't know if you live in the area or whatever but I work at the apple valley store sometime, my name is brian, you can stop in sometime or I could give you my number so that you can call me and I'll at least be able to know you're coming in and expect you, anything like that we can figure something up, but I suppose we are kinda filling up a thread with talk that doesn't really relate to the topic so I suppose a pm might be a better place to continue our talk

I THING that sticks in my head when i reads tim garble is that he has a passion. Now in saying that so do I so lemme tell you what an 04 mystic will cost ya in 10 years. If you look at what a 96 is worth, it tells me paint jobs and fancy seats don't always sell cars and the seat part is more than the 96 got. Also 04 cobras and 96 cobras are lets just say very different. Lastly and this is tims and others view sentamental value there is no amount of money that can be put on that, even so to tell you what i think a 04 mystic will be in 10 years is one word "PRICELESS" no try to buy that if you can. be cool and just think about it.
