Hey Guys, I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Rich Newman. I know, you see Vette in my forum name, but don't judge me just by that. I do one several Fords and just like performance cars in general. Not really a "just Chevy" or "just Ford" guy, heck, I even own a Dodge, too.

Anyway, my question here is about the 2005 Mustang GT. Anybody got any pricing info to pass on. I am thinking about purchasing one if the price isn't going to be too out of line. My local Ford dealer (small town) hasn't gotten back to me yet and doesn't think he is going to be able get his hands on one anyway.
I figure you guys ought to have the lowdown on the Mustangs and could pass on best dealers in the TC area.
I will check back in once in awhile to see what you can tell me. Planning on meeting a few of you guys at the Cedar Falls Raceway on Aug 14. I will be the one in the White Vette beating the crap out of Jeff (SuperSonic) . Just Kidding, Jeff.

Welcome Rich, this is Doug we met at hooters a couple months or so ago (you were buying rounds for everyone).

Only things I've heard are that the mustang pricing is going up, but only very marginally, and don't expect a GT till January at the earliest...

Hey Doug, How's it been going for you?

How come January? Wont they come out in Sept. with the rest of the 2005's?
And what range are we talking for a GT convertible?
Does anybody think that the 2005 would be worth more as a collectible someday? What I mean to sayis if a person were to order one, would it be worth it to order every option available?

I've thought i heard something in regards to starting prices around 23k or something to that nature. I could be way of , or i could be on the nuts. So don't quote me 100% .

Yeah both tidbits I heard were on one of the news channels about a week ago (CNN or CNBC can't remember which).

As far as collectibility Rich, I'd doubt it. They just make too many of them. Only really collectable mustangs since '73 or so have been the Cobra-R's.

Thanks guys for the info.

Believe it or not my wife would like one. She's going through her "mid-life crisis" like I did a few years back.
Actually, I don't think it was a mid life crisis. It's just that we can finally afford the cars (and toys) that I wanted when I was young and didn't have the money to buy. 4 kids and 2 of them out of the house, makes me look forward to when the last 2 leave!:)
She's been hinting about a new Mustang, and I just thought if your going to get one, might as well go for the GT. If it won't be that "collectible" later on, maybe just go for the Mustang vert. She would look good in a vert, Hell, even I would look good in a vert. Well, ok maybe I am stretching it.

The convertible will not come out this year. It will be out about 6 months AFTER the coupe.

1 thing I do know is that Ford will offer a V-6 coupe at 19,995 after destination.
