View Full Version : Base contour brakes on my CSVT?

I had my brakes overhauled this past week by a friend and found out that for some reason the brakes on my CSVT are not consistent with what the csvt brakes are supposed to be. The pads for the csvt that I received from Ford would not fit and they had a sensor on them, which my current system did not. After a lot of searching, I found out that my pads on my car were from a base contour...

So, what is the deal with that?? My car is not a clone, however I don't know if the previous owner had the redone and went the cheaper route.

Is this something to be concerned about?

thanks, MG

The pads for the E1 series of the SVT Contour are the same as all other contours. The rotors are the upgraded parts. The E0 SVT Contour is the one that used the larger pad. Don't worry about your setup as it's perfectly normal.

Just snip off the sensor wires. No Contour uses these sensors. I talked about this quite extensively with a few people and the sensors are used on Cougars only. I also tried purchasing the pads from Ford and none of the ones that came up in their computer (which they had in stock) for the CSVT came without sensors.
