As I was driving down the highway I pulled into the left hand turn lane waiting for the traffic to clear so I could make my turn a line painter drove by me and covered an entire half of my car in yelow paint luckily after about 3 hours on the phone with MNDot it looks like all the damage will be covered by them however for a month or two I will have to be driving a car covered in yellow paint.
Sorry just wanted to bitch about it
Thanks

that really sucks that something like that happened but at least you get a whole new paint job right? oh and how bad is it, just kind of like a big stripe or something right? it didn't like cover half of your car like you make it sound did they?

I'm guessing that theres not much chance that your car also just happens to be "Road Stipe" yellow is it...? Maybe no one will notice... :)
That really blows. I think I would have chased down a certain paint truck at that point... and did a few "unmentionables".

I've seen the picture of a road-kill racoon with a yellow stripe down it, but never a Cobra. MNDot :50cal: I'd be a little wound up after that :mad2:

Holy Cow that bites, I would ask MNDOT if you can pay to have paint removed and submit the bill. In 3 months its going to be time to put the car away for the year.

I'm sure that was not what I wanted. sorry bud, but you are still allowed at the next meeting even if it is 2 tone.

well I think that I am just going to get it repainted and hope that I get the money for it. its not actually a line down the side its splatter but the entire half of the car is covered with a thick splatter. So far I ahve been quoted at $2000 to get it fixed I am just happy I didnt have mistycrome thats all that would have never gotten fixed

Yellow "Splatter" effect isn't so bad then in this case... as long as you don't get neon tubes installed under your car now... <lol> :)

well i'm not recommending this but i usually just go for the red can of 89 octane and rub her right off...:scram: but check with the manufacturer before doing any modifications to your paint:grin:

I tried everything but sandpaper, however a family friend of my best friend went to college for bodywork and paint but never went anywhere with it, just wanted it as a hobby. so he has all the stuff and said that he would hook me up so now it looks like I will be getting the whole car painted for less than a $1000 so I will have some extra cash for other things then

Brian,
I was telling a local detailer about your paint problem. He thinks he may have a solution that would clean it off and avoid the problems with having it painted (i.e. spending $1000+).
Since you work in Chaska, and I live here - this might be worth pursuing. He owns the new Car Wash at Rt 17 and 212 (right behind Tires Plus) - his name is John. The fix involves using Easy Off and a plastic razor blade - he will tell you how to do it or you could make a deal with him - he said he had just done a similar fix for someone. In any event, I doubt it would cost anything like a grand and he is a really good guy.
BTW - The company I used to work for was in the Cinema business and one of our sales/service guys helped build the cinema you work at - I know all about your references to a pretty low key operation.
Good luck with this

Brian,
As of now, I and my partners own a company called Digital Cinema Ventures that is one of the major companies designing the systems to convert cinemas from running film to using digital files and video projectors - it's call D-Cinema.
I used to be the Senior Vice President of engineering for a company called MTS that designed and installed movie theatres all over the world. The company went bankrupt 2 years ago during the big slump.
Basically, I'm a cinema design engineer and specialize is high tech exhibition systems (IMAX, D-Cinema, THX, etc.). I've been doing it for 30 years and will probably end up doing it for another 10 or 15. Over that 30 years I've probably designed and/or installed several thousand movie theatres. MTS used to do around 650-750 screens a year, all by itself. Over 30 years, that's a lot of theatres.

I was told that they were not going to use digital film due to the ease to duplicate the media and also the expence for all of the bankrupt theatres would have to shell out to pay for the new projectors. well you are a good person to know in the theatre buisness. It really is too bad that I will not be in it anymore.
