Looking for anyone that feels up to the task of a spring install on an 01 Cobra vert (Dan?). I think I'm gonna do it, and have been told enough that it's not that hard that I'm ready to try. Anyone up to the challenge?

You probly already know this, but have a spring compressor handy. Getting the old springs out is the hardest part.

Thanks Brian, that's what I've been told. I've done a couple of other (i.e. foreign) <A TITLE="Click for more information about car" STYLE="text-decoration: none; border-bottom: medium solid green;" HREF="http://search.targetwords.com/u.search?x=5977|1||||cars|AA1VDw">car</A>s in the past and thought it was pretty easy...I'm wondering how difficult the IRS is?

- oops sorry, on the wifes computer while mine is transfering a hard drive - 250 gb:rock:

I had a 01 and changed the springs in it, it was a miserable job. I may have need to find the trick or needed a better compressor, but I have to admitt I was using a few choice words during the process.

Good luck, if I wasn't so busy at work I would be more than happy to lend a hand. (or give a few suggestions on some choice words to throw at it) ;)

Brian

PS: What springs are you going to put in?

when are ya thinkin, I gotta find out when I work this week but I'm usually up for doin car work. I live close enough too so that can't hurt, is there anything you'll need? I can check an see if I've got any tools that will be needed for the job, I've only got basic stuff but most of it is decent.

What kind of a timeline are you looking at? Got a date or are you pretty open at this time....?

Perhaps a little "Wrench Party" is in order here <hint-hint> :)

Rick,

I also have spring compressors. Never done it in a newer style Cobra but I'd be willing to help.

What if we had a Centralized wrenching party? Not in Rosemount or North Branch?

Rick,

Check out this link:

http://www.fallscitymustangclub.com...leenSprings.htm

It has a pretty good "how to" to install springs in your garage on an '01 Cobra Vert. Guy is using Saleen springs, but the "how to" should apply for anyones stuff.

Waiting to see when you plan to do it - I'll try to be available to help. If you have the jacks, stands, and compressor - we could do it at your place.

Thanks Dave, I think "WE" can do it. Now just have to figure out when...

I changed out the springs on my Cougar when it was about a year old. Took near 7 hours to get it all finished up because it was a pain to get the struts out of the hub and to get the screws loose. Just be prepared for it to take a while. I'm not sure if mustangs are coil over shocks though.
