Heading out on Vacation next week in the drop top - location a secret (don't want anyone to find us) and have decided I "need" a radar detector. Looking for your recommendations -

The best on the market is the Valentine One (www.valentine1.com). Front/Rear/Side detection and can differentiate up to 9 different bogies by direction and signal strength. I also use a Uniden BCT12 mobile scanner for those pesky planes and cops that can count distance markers. :shiftin:

I tried - honest. But with the stock rear end, at 75mph in 5th gear I am only turning 1900rpm - basically lugging the engine. I feel better if the RPMs are around 3300+, thereby ensuring that the proper amount of oil is reaching the top end.

I agree with SShifty, Save your money and obey the speed limits.

Radar detect is one thing... true. I generally find that it doens't matter if you've detected them or not, by the time you do, they have your speed.
Personally, I rely on my cruise control as much as possible... <heh>

I have a dream... Wait, someone has used that line already...
Ok, a wish list. Heres the concept:
Large boats go under giant bridges when they go out of port to the sea... The large ships have "Radar". Now when they come close to a bridge... that bridge would show up on their radar screen as a "Bar" being a top down emulation of a 3d planet.... problem is that they won't be able to determine if theres a littel boat on the other side of said bridge.... since they just see the "Bar".
So what they did to resolve that is use radar absorbant material in the paint on those bridges. So on the ships radar screen, the bridge doesnt actaully show up and they are able to detect the smaller ships and boats beyond the bridge. (Safety issue)
What I'd like to get as some of that paint. So rather then try to bounce the signal off the car like the Stealth (aircraft) did, so the signal never makes its return trip to the source at least not at full strength... so that caused teh aircraft to "look" smaller...about the size of a large beetle or small bird. If I were the enemy and I saw a small bird flying Mach 3 at 40,000ft I'd be a little disconcerted personally. So rather than "look small". I'd rather just absorb the radar and disappear.
Ok that was a lot of typing and BTW, I write back... <heh>

Jammer is illegal in MN  I know someone in the UK that has their car painted with stealth paint, works pretty good, however you need the photograph resistant license covers too. Just my 2 cents. :o:

Escort Solo II
This is what I have. Battery operated and tracks up to 8 radars.
You do not have to woory about the cord.
I have a Escort Solo in the Cobra and it is mounted just above the rear view mirror.

I get confused over these damn old threads! But what did you end up with? Or is it hard to remember two years ago?

Bought a Cobra (DUH!). Tracks 11 different radars & Lidar. Also let's you know if a train is on RR tracks by you. That one will scare the hell out of you when it goes off!
