Hello;

Just got back from Colorado from the Driving Experience @ PPIR.

Brian G - Kevin Rogers, Bryan Appleby, Jeff Lacina, etc. say hi and miss you.

This type of event you would not believe. Never under estimate what your vehicle can do. PPIR is a 1 mile oval with a 1.3 mile road course that uses the front and back stretch. The instructors were great and helped me appreciate what my car can do.

I out ran and passed several '03 & '04 Cobra's on this track hard to believe what a 1993 Cobra can do on a road course.

We need this type of event!!! There were 80+ vehicles there. Focus, Lighting, Cobra, Viper, Vette, Z06, Ferrari 360 Modena (2), GT 350 Shelby (3), SHO, BMW M5 4 door, 69 Mustang, on and on.

Drag Racing is fun BUT going left and right is excting as he**. You will learn to handle about 80%-90% of what your vehicle can do.

Image going 100 mph, hit the brakes down shift to second gear turn into a 180 degree turn, acelerate during the turn and exit out hard on the acelerator into the next sweeping 180 degree turn on the bumper of the cobra or focus that is in front of you pushing them to go faster. Talk about excitement.

Sorry to be long, will have some pictures on the next reply.

Rick,

Glad you had a good time. We will be doing a track event in September! I plan on going to it and I think others are too. We should have a caravan!

Need pics!

Congrats, Rick!!!! Sounds like you have been bitten by the track bug. :shiftin:

Glad you had a safe and fun time, you are exactly right with your assesment of driving on the track. We don't realize how little we know about what a car can really do and how to control it, until we drive them on a track.

Wish I could have come out and joined the fun, but family abligations prohibited it. Thanks for passing along the greetings from Kevin, Jeff, and Bryan. The tracking community really is a great group of people.

Wow, sounds like a lot of fun. Brian, is this what Gingerman is like? I hate to admit but I think I'd be a little chicken....

Now...try that track again in a Z06...

A few of the folks on this board have converted...

I've been to Brainerd, and frequent St. Cloud for some track time, and it is a hoot.

St. Cloud is fun because it's not too fast so you can't really mess up your car too much if you do an oops.

Brainerd on the other hand...I've seen a number of trashed cars due to someone being inexperienced and or pushing the car too hard.

The right thing to do...take instruction...take it easy...work your way up to faster speeds with even more instruction.

Trial and error end up with more error than some folks want!

Pam.
Gingerman will be setup very simular. We will have instructors available at no additional cost. They will ride with and provide incar instruction for as long as you need.

It's only natural to be a little scared at first, but that will go away very soon after you hit the track. You will be as enthusiastic as Rick is after you do it. Besides, you will have a group of friends there as well to give a lending hand. :)
