View Full Version : How much power is your L making?

Mainly concerned with 2nd-gen Lightnings....
How much rwhp/rwtq are you making? What kind of dyno/location? What are your mods? What are the specifics of your tune (timing, a/f, etc)?
I'm concerned that my truck is a little lackluster for the mods I have.
Thanks,
Kris
Oh yeah...I'm making 352/433 on RJRs superflow dyno. My mods are 4# lower pulley, K&N filter in stock airbox, a Dynomax welded-in muffler (stock cats/headers/etc), and a Hi-Tech Diablo tune that has 14 degrees of timing around 3000rpm ramping up to 17 degrees at 5000rpm with an air/fuel that ranges from 11.0:1 to 11.4:1 depending on the temp of the engine.
This is in a 2000 Lightning, BTW.

Hey Kris -
Your #'s do seem a little low for your mods. Has the MAF been upgraded to 90mm? Do you know if the Intercooler recall was ever done on your truck?
At RJR my 2003 dyno'ed at 351/420 with just a K&N filter
With a Ported Blower and tune from RWTD - 385/430 - max 18 degrees - A/F 11.0 (RJR)
Added #4 and Bassani cat back RWTD tune - 400/475 - max 14 degrees - A/F 11.5 (RJR)
Added - JLP Ram air kit, phenolic spacer, new RWTD tune - 419/479 - max 15 degrees - A/F 11.9 (Hitech)
Added Long Tubes, High Flows, e-fan, and newly discovered slipping belt - 415/475 - 15 degrees - A/F 11.9 (Hitech)
New #'s to come with non slipping belt and race tune with 19 degrees mas timing

Thanks for the reply, Jeff.
I still have the 80mm MAF. Casey gave me an airbox from a 2001+ that will accept a 90mm....I just have to get one and then get it tuned again.
I have no idea if the intercooler recall was done. Actually, I don't even know what it is/was???

I personally have no idea what my Lightning is putting up for numbers.

With a KB, 15lbs boost w/pulleys, long tube fulll system, efans, 90mm maf, Accufab tb, 95mm intake, & SCT tuning @ RJR w/18 degrees timing and 11.8-12.0 a/f, my '00 makes a solid 450/500 at the wheels in high heat and humidity. MAF voltage maxed @ 4.78 volts, intake temp @ 128, coolant temp @ 178. Stock fuel system has been enuf so far.

I know as of this weekend that on street tires I can run 13.20s @ 104 with a fair amount of slipping. I'm sure I can be deep in the 12s with some traction. RJR has SCT programming and my truck drove 300 miles to the track, made 7 total runs, and drove home with zero issues.

It's the truck's first time at the track, cool and a little slick, a little rain, a couple really big sideways moves at a few hundred feet,... sucky driving?! My initial run was 13.44 and I dropped every time but the last. By then it was raining and no more play time. Actually my last run would have been a monster, but I got loose pretty bad. The 60 ft was the best of the day. Oh well, too much power to stay hooked up on the streets- I got loose at mid track a couple times. We were just having fun and getting a feel for what it could do. I'm pretty happy. It was pretty consistent. I guess I'll have to do it a few more times to be sure.

Alright, you should be well into the 12's then. :)
Just making sure you didn't miss a shift or something. HAHA!

When my truck was stock I made 336 hp and 402 tq on a hot day in Arkansas. Now I don't have any idea I have sence put in a cai, 4# lower, custom i/c tank in the bed, pred tuner, tr6's, ftvb, ported blower.

I made ~380/470 early Nov. at HiTech. I haven't changed anything since, and probably won't, unless I blow the motor, in which case it gets a built block and a twin turbo? Dunno - shouldn't have to worry about that with my setup, unless I do something stupid.

Maybe we can get two for the price of one???

Maybe in a couple years. I gotta play with what I got for a bit first, otherwise I'll feel like I wasted my money. Besides, you don't really want a 10 sec truck, do you? ;)
