Im looking to swap one of the two out, and not sure 100% on which one I should do.. So others that have did this mod ( Jeff and crew ) which one did you swap out, and did you gain the HP like you thought you would, or would you change it around to where you would have done the opposite ???

Dustin just go the same route as most and get a cageless lower pulley.
You can find them used all the time for around 125 or so .

Any suggestions for a place to purchase it ?? And I would assume a 4lb pulley as well ?

Look in the classifieds on www.nloc.net and a 4 pound will do you just fine . Otherwise you can get a new one from JLP or PSP

Why not go with a 6lb pulley?

Dustin
06-13-2005, 09:11 PM
It may over blow the charger itself .. and that im guessing it a bad thing. From what i've seen on the ford truck world site, most others w/ Lightnings are staying w/ the 4lb pulley

And Jason, what is the difference between the 8 rib and the 10 rib belt ?

:oogle: just a wider belt. You will be fine with the stock set up - 8 rib.

Is a 68" the right length for a 6#??

Dustin
06-14-2005, 09:39 AM
I personally have no clue. I just e-mailed the company that I bought mine from and asked what length my belt will be for my 4lb that I ordered.

As soon as I find out what the length is, i'll get a hold of you asap Dan.

Dan, the 4lb pulley that im getting, is coming with a 68" belt. You may need a 69, or even a 69.5 belt for the 6lb.

Yeah, a little. Honestly, not as much as I was expecting. Time to set up a dyno to test the actual power. :)

"too much power is almost enough", I have been afraid to say it, but I am thinking the same thing Dan. Yea it pulls hard, but I was expecting more. :googleeye oh well I can always put on the 2.76, and a lower and...

Dan,

Do you have a custom tune on the truck yet?

When are you going to dyno? My header install is almost done, so I need to go back and dyno as well.

DNeinstadt

Custom tune is from James at RWTD...

I'll try to schedule a dyno day soon then. :)

Week night work OK for you Jeff?

Jeff , Jason , and Dan.

Did you need some sort of tool to pull the factory pulley off ?? Or is it just bolted on with ( what I think ) 3 bolts ?

Just curious on how tuff this swap is going to be.

If your buying it new it should come with the lock up tool and the 14mm allen socket that is needed. The stock on can be a pain in the ass but im sure youll be able to get it .

Hey, I was going through the instructions for the lower pulley install, and came up to a bold caption ...

A special program on your chip is required for the changes a pulley brings to your engine calibration. Severe engine damage could occur because of not installing a proper chip or having your current chip reprogrammed.

Should I really worry about this, or blow it off since I have a Diablo now ???

~Dustin

Diablo has a tune built in for a 4lb lower. If you do not have the most recent version of your predator, I can help you install it!!!

If your Predator doesn't have the latest software release, I would use caution with the built in 4# tune. Several people have blamed this tune for blowing their engine. The 4# tune that comes with the new software release is much safer.

Either way, I would get it on a dyno to check your Air/Fuel ratio.

D - I have the cable and power cord. We will download the latest revision and get it installed.
