View Full Version : Clarification on the SVT Vs. Vette event next weekend
DNeinstadt

Since this is an event for our local SVTOATC chapter vs. the Corvette guys, in order to make this fair and fun for everyone in our club that has paid their local dues, we need the following:
1. A confirmation if you are going. Obviously weather dependent, but tell me YES I am planning on going", or NO, I'm not planning on going. I need to know an approximate head count for the SVT guys to bring to the head of the track to organize our trophies, lanes, pit area, etc.
2. The National SVTOA and local SVTOATC dues MUST be paid and current to participate in the SVT vs. Vette event. This means you must have registration unless you are driving a Corvette with the Corvettes. For those of you (Doug) that are doing both, SShifty1 will give you a big sloppy hug.
3. You must bring with your usual track things. This includes a helmet, long pants, any necessary safety equipment and perhaps some tools if you need. Track tech will be the same as it always is.
4. Club Food ideas will be discussed once we have a good idea of how many SVTOATC MEMBERS are vouching to go. It's just not fair to provide things for those that have not paid local dues so keep that in mind as well.
Hopefully this answers some questions that have been brought up. I think we should attempt to meet at a southern central location (American Ford?) on Saturday at 7AM sharp. This gives us 3 hours to drive "leisurely" to the track and gates open at 10, trials start at 11.
For those that are staying overnight, please post where you are staying, perhaps we can take over a hotel room and have a informal "get together" after the track event.
For those that are leaving from the track Saturday, drive safe. :) None of this: :shiftin:
If weather sucks, John mentioned Go-karting, any other suggestions? Does this sound good to everyone? I could try to call ahead again and get us discounts again?
Sound off, PLEASE. Give us some feedback to see how you feel...
Dan

Haha On a side note you can ignore Line 3, the part about needing a helmet, you only need a helmet if you can run a 12.99.
Twitch
05-21-2004, 12:27 AM
OK I WILL do this one, just need some clarification,
so i wont need a helmet, cuz i aint running less than 12.99
the focus might look a little nappy, i havent gotten it detailed in a while, SHAN I know my rims are dirty, plz dont rub it in
and is anyone planning on staying overnite, if things get out of hand?, if they are i am willing to go half on a room.
AND HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO PAY TO RACE???
mind you if anything i will just do this to see what i am running the 1/4 mile in.
John M
05-21-2004, 12:34 AM
$20 to race and I know things will be getting out of hand :drink:http://www.gmvsford.com/forums/images/smilies/toast.gif but I already got a roomy and she is blonde http://www.gmvsford.com/forums/images/smilies/smileysex5.gif

Dan your correct, its not 12.99 I was giving Doug a hard time and got excited. Its a IHRA track so the cut off is either 13.49 or 13.99  and verts are like 15.99. If you have a vert, better bring a helmet regardless. I spoke to Casey and he will know today if they are going or not. If they do go it will be 2 cars as well.

Not sure of normal cost, think it might be a little bit more, but he will not be eligible for an SVT vs. Vette trophy and will have to race with the general public, NOT with us I think.

Rick I think the plans are to depart the Lakeville area at 7AM(That means we will hit the road at 7:15 if we are lucky) So that means that we will prolly be at that rest stop closer to 8AM, However Brian Groth and Jason Bartel are meeting us at that same rest stop.

Exit 81 actually...and the McStop is on the east side of the freeway.
You'll see the golden arches and it actually says on the sign "McStop" instead of McDonalds.
If I remember correct, it's about 10 mins south on 35 of where the 35's come together in Burnsville.

Okay, so, just so there is no confusion, this is the timing of Saturday...
The main caravan will meet at McStop and LEAVE at 7 a.m. If you want food, please get there around 6:30/6:45 so you have your food and are ready to go at 7.
We will then travel south and meet with the southern crowd at the rest area just South of Owatonna around 7:45 and then continue onto the track.
So far, the weather is going to be nice. Hit 80 degrees in the afternoon, but windy, so spectators may want to keep that in mind.
Jason and Brian, I want to make sure you guys are going to be at the rest area, not at the truck stop outside of Wanamingo where we met before going to Brian's shop a few months ago.
