T5 Take Apart

How do you remove the top of a T5? A buddy of mine needs to replace the rubber plug in the rear but we can't seem to get the top off. It's just the normal T5, not the World Class or whatver, if that makes a difference. Anyone have a tear down manual?

A T5 or World Class are the same except for the internal parts. When you say remove the top what do you mean ?

I mean remove the cover on the top of the transmission so you can get inside. We have all the bolts out but you can't just take the cover off, you have to slide it off twards the rear but the shift linkage is keepin' us from slidin' it all the way off.

There is a role pin that hold the linkage, I suggest you at least pick up a Helms Manual for the car, they are pretty discriptive and guide you thru most the basic stuff.

The Helms manual we have doesn't have anything about tranny stuff. How do you take out the roll pin? Punch it out?

Yeah punch it out and the linkage will seperate

Then where does one aquire another one?

You shouldnt lose it but if you do, all parts are available from a Ford Dealer or Tremec Direct.
