Hey, I have a 2002 V6 mustang with a 5 speed manual tranny. I have a magna flow exahust and a CAi is one the way. The next upgrade I'm looking at is a new set of gears for the rear end, only thing is everytime I start looking for gears, all I can find them for the 8.8 rear end. Does anyone have/ know where to get 3.73 for the 7.5 rear end that I can use in my 02 V6? Also, a t-lok and an install kit? Biggest thing stopping me is price, so if anyone knows where I can get them at a good price or if anyone can get a good deal on them, please let me know! Also, would anyone ever think of buying used 3.73 gears, or would you strictly go with new parts?

Welcome!

You can get 7.5" gears from a Ranger, I think they use 7.5's. Also, 6 cylinder Mustangs have 7.5's, as you know. Older 4 cylinder Mustangs have 7.5's and some of them came with 3.73's. (Try a '87-'93 4-cylinder convertible with an auto trans - mine was a 3.73 car.)

Summit has a 3.45:1 ring gear available HERE (http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=partdetail.asp&part=FMS%2DM4209L345&N=120+400070+302897&view=4095&applid=%7BD6223085%2D6AD9%2D435D%2DBF0C%2D0E6F5D58 F50C%7D) .

OTHERWISE, an 8.8" from a '99+ GT is a direct bolt in and will sustain more power... might want to consider it, they go for about $300-400 used...

Check junkyards?

Thats sounds ok...but honestly, would you guys trust used parts in the rear-end of your car Mine is my daily driver and I don't want to run the risk of messing up my car.
I found some gears on e-bay, wondering what you guys think

I'm not a big fan of used parts, except that for my 69 that is alot of what I have to buy. Those gears look like they are in good shape, but only you can really make the decision. Maybe wait a little longer and buy a new set if you are that concerned.

You could also check the junkyards for Aerostars, they had 7.5's as well, gears are heavy and will cost a bunch to ship.

There's a couple of places in town to check with...

How and the hell do you know that about an aerostar. Wow, my respect for you just rose about 3 notches.

He hangs out with me too much...

I've got a set of used 3.45's laying around somewhere if you want them. But I think that's stock on the V6'es. 3.73 and 4.10 are very common in Aerostar and Ranger 7.5" rear-ends.

Re: Fear of Used Gears. Do you honestly think that a V6 from a ranger or a Aerostar (muchless a V6 mustang) has done too much to damange ANYTHING?
